Preparations completed to construct the Overhead Bridge on the Railway Track for Rawalpindi Ring Road

Rawalpindi Ring Road is a mega infrastructural development within the city, aimed to provide accessibility to different areas and improve connectivity overall. The project is witnessing rapid developments, as the government is committed to fully developing it and inaugurating it by August 2024. Another major milestone has been achieved in this regard.

The developers have completed all the arrangements for the construction of an overhead bridge on the railway track along the Rawalpindi Ring Route. This overseas bridge will link Rawalpindi Ring Road with Lahore Motorway. The officials of the caretaker government informed us that all the preparations are done and construction will begin shortly.

According to the spokesperson, Pakistan Railways issued a demand notice for the grant of NOC for the construction of the Overhead Bridge. This bridge will be constructed along the railway track close to the Kaliam Awan area of Rawalpindi, along RRR route.

As per the policy, Pakistan Railway will get financial aid from local authorities such as RDA and the government for the issuance of NOC. Furthermore, all expenses will also be paid to Pakistan Railways. The authorities will reveal the estimated cost of construction of this bridge later and financial aid will be specified accordingly.

For the construction of this overhead bridge, the gas pipeline under the administration of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) needs to be relocated. The authority will release a demand notice for this action soon.

The land acquisition will not stop until the final 26-kilometer patch of Rawalpindi Ring Road is completed. It is important to mention that the Chief Minister of Punjab also visited the site of RRR and advised the developers to speed up work and complete the project by August 2024. He also said that no mistakes or delays will be tolerated.
