CDA to Develop an Economic Zone near Rawat
News: Capital Development Authority (CDA) is likely to approve the development of an Economic Zone near Rawat area of Rawalpindi District. The Board of Investment (BOI) and Special Economic Zone Authority (SEZA) plan to develop an economic zone in Rawalpindi.
An economic zone is planned by two major governing bodies of Pakistan to boost the economy and businesses near the Rawat area of Rawalpindi City. The Board of Investment (BOI) and Special Economic Zone Authority (SEZA) have created a proposal for the development of a fully-equipped business center. For this purpose, a proposal will be submitted to Capital Development Authority (CDA) for the grant of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for land acquisition close to Rawat. A meeting between the officials of CDA, BOI, and SEZA will be held at the CDA head office.

A combined summary of the project has already been prepared in the planning wing of the Capital Development Authority (CDA). BOI and SEZA are demanding a land area for the development of an economic zone near Rawat. It will be named “ICT Model Special Economic Zone”. Furthermore, CDA has already specified 1,000 acres of land near the Rawat area. Now, BOI and SEZA have approached CDA to assign this land for this mega economic zone in Rawalpindi.
As you already know, a duly-approved No Objection Certificate (NOC) from CDA is a requirement before starting any projects in the premises of Islamabad, according to Islamabad High Court. Therefore, the project will present in front of CDA officials. They will have a closer look at his proposal and give a decision accordingly. Furthermore, Zone 4 of Islamabad is now approved for developing private housing schemes and commercial projects and establishing industrial estate on Kahuta Road.

This economic zone near Rawat will be a part of Zone 5 near Rawalpindi District, another major project called Rawat Industrial Estate is also under development near the site of the Rawat Economic Zone.
