The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) is looking forward to proposing that Monal Restaurant should be converted into Wildlife Education Center. The idea is to create awareness for Margalla Hills National Park (MNHP) and its wildlife.

The Ministry of Climate Change is going to pursue the idea as they seem satisfied with the court’s decision to ban Monal Restaurant. This will add more value to the proposal of IWMB and their stance will have the support of the Ministry of Climate Change itself.

It is also expected that other restaurants in the area are also going to be issued notices for the conservation and protection of MHNP. There are efforts in progress that will get all the occupied land back to the state and the builders and developers will be dealt with all the legal force.

Following the orders of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), the Assistant Commissioner of Islamabad issued notice to seal Monal and Navy Golf Course as well. The claim of the Military Land of 8000-Acres has also been denied by the court and the land belongs back to the national park now.

The court has ordered that the Federal Government is the sole owner of this land and they are required to preserve and protect it. All the claims on the land are denied at the moment and the MHNP is to be protected from land encroachment.

The Chairman of IWMB, Rina Saeed Khan Satti, indicated that Wildlife Education Center will help to raise awareness on wildlife conservation in Margalla Hills National Park. IWMB received the NOC from Capital Development Authority (CDA), and then the proposal was sent to the Ministry.

IWMB wants to raise awareness and ensure that environmental protection laws are known to the masses. If the proposal of IWMB is accepted, Margalla Hills National Park will be preserved and protected under the light of the law.
