Wapda Town is the popular name of Wapda Employees Cooperative Housing Society. It is a registered cooperative society under the circle registrar of ICT Islamabad under registration number 157. It was established back in 1983, with land purchase began in early 90s, and the development started after 2000. The society has taken four decades to reach this stage of development, however it is currently sparsely populated and considered as one of the cheapest housing schemes in Islamabad.
Normally we call it Islamabad as this area is adjacent to CDA Zone 2, but actually this land falls under the jurisdiction of Rawalpindi Development Authority. Some people call it extension of CDA Zone 2, and call it sector C-18 and C-19, but these are all wrong claims. There are no sectors after 17 series, so CDA limits end after D-17 and C-17.

Wapda Town has failed to obtain its final NOC from RDA despite owning the total land and completing development. There are no details available as to the issues regarding its NOC approval, however there is no restriction on transfers and construction activities in this society.
As it is a registered cooperative society under ICT Islamabad, it is considered safe to invest as cooperative societies have active involvement of the district government and its operations are more transparent and secure as compared to private housing schemes.

Wapda Town is planned over an area of 4,303.99 Kanals of land in Mouza Jando and Pandana near Sangjani. 1 Kanal in Wapda Town is equal to 5445 Sqft. Total number of plots are 4069, in the breakdown of plots according to plot sizes is given as under:

Wapda Town is ideally located near Mouza Sangjani, along Motorway M-1 with direct access through AWT Interchange, as well as GT Road. Similar to AWT D-18, Wapda Town also stretches on both sides of Motorway.

Sector A lies on one side of the Motorway, while all other sectors are located on the other side of M-1 Motorway. The society has two entrance points on the link road coming from GT road; first one at A block and 2nd one at C block, while another entrance is from AWT which opens at D block.
