The traffic congestion problem of the Twin Cities is going to be reduced once the Rawalpindi Ring Road is completed. The work on the Rawalpindi Ring Road has started and once the work is done, the daily commute of the people from Rawalpindi and Islamabad will reduce by 50%.

Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has launched three projects in the city to address the issue of traffic congestion in the city. The main highlight of the project is Ring Road, and two small projects of Kacheri Chowk and Defence Chowk are also in the planning phase.

Kacheri Chowk will cost around PKR 4.8 billion and the Defence Chowk will cost around PKR 4 billion. These two projects are going to ease the traffic flow during rush hours as the Ammar Chowk expansion has provided relief to the residents of Rawalpindi.

RDA has been working on digitalizing its records for transparency and this is the reason that they were able to secure surplus revenue. RDA will bring more projects like these in the future as well.

Over the last two years, RDA revenue increased by PKR 2 billion and RDA has decided to run the welfare projects from this surplus. This will bring relief to the citizens of Rawalpindi as traffic was becoming one of the major concerns of the people.

Frontier Works Organization (FWO) has already started working on the project and the expected time of completion is 2 years. This project was stopped because of corruption charges but now it is completely legal and FWO is working on its original plan.
