New Blue Area Islamabad – Project Details, Location & Features
Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved CDA’s plan to develop “New Blue Area” commercial city in Islamabad. CDA has reserved about 170 kanals of premium commercial land for this project, and new commercial plots will be sold to developers and investors through open auction.
The government is hoping to generate more than 30 billion rupees initially through auction of these commercial plots. This amount will be used to develop low cost housing projects for the middle and lower middle classes of Pakistan under Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme.
Existing blue area of Islamabad is the most congested commercial market of Islamabad where thousands of businesses are operating. Due to continuous immigration of people from across Pakistan and expansion of the capital city, it is about time that a new commercial area was developed to accommodate new businesses in central Islamabad.
New Blue Area Project Location
New Blue Area project is planned right opposite to F-9 Park Islamabad. Current blue area lies along Jinnah Avenue opposite to Sector G-7, G-6 and F-7, F-6. If we drive towards F-8 and F-9 on Jinnah Avenue, we can notice many vacant spaces on both sides of the road.
There are only a few plazas and projects ready and under construction at the start of Sector G-9. As New Blue Area project lies just opposite to F-9 Park, we can mark the commercial strip along Jinnah Avenue where a couple of plazas are already under construction.

If we take the google earth version of the map, we can see the existing settlements on this commercial strip.
As you can see on the map above, there are some commercial plazas being constructed already in this area. Remaining commercial strip is currently mostly occupied by cricket and football playgrounds.

As per CDA sources, there is a total of 26 commercial plots that will be auctioned in New Blue Area project. The auction is planned to be held in April 2020, and CDA is hoping to generate 25 to 30 billion rupees from the auction. About 5% of the revenue from plots sales will be spent on development and provision of amenities in this new commercial area.

New Blue Area is the central location of Islamabad and has a humongous commercial value. Once CDA auctions these commercial plots, many new commercial hi-rise projects will start immediately.

This new commercial venture will not only stir up construction activities in the city boosting economic growth, but also create thousands of jobs because new businesses would love to operate in this area.
