Part of the project falling in Rawalpindi was called Rawalpindi Ring Road, whereas the part falling in capital territory was named Islamabad Ring Road. This road project was destined to connect Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

The spokesperson of the civic agency stated that the funds for the Islamabad Ring Road project were not allocated after the summary was sent to the Federal Government. Moreover, the Federal Government is likely to provide these funds in the next financial year.
