PM Approves New Islamabad Airport Link Road Plan Through Kashmir Highway

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has approved the older extension plan of Kashmir Highway leading to new Islamabad International Airport. This will be shortest access route to New Islamabad Airport through motorway zero point i.e. around 4KM.

This link road was designed according to the master plan of Islamabad and it is the only logical access route with shortest distance and least cost.

The layout design finalized earlier and re-approved again by the PM is attached below:

According to the instructions by PM, the link road will lead directly to the parking area of the airport which saves time of passengers. NHA already commits to provide 2KM of land from the required 4KM patch of land from motorway zero point up to New Islamabad Airport. Remaining 2KM land has to be purchased, which doesn’t cost much to the Government.

Earlier link road plan through Haji Camp was rejected by CDA & RDA due to excessive cost of 40 billion rupees and much time required for completion of the proposed project.

The image copy of previous plan is attached below:

As per observations made by PM, one link road is not sufficient to cater to the traffic movement to & from the airport. Therefore, more link roads need to be planned to give easy access to new Islamabad Airport.
