Srinagar Highway Has Been Made Signal Free
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) came up with a great solution to the problem of traffic jams during rush hours on Srinagar Highway. The highway is now completely signal-free with an addition of 3 protective U-turns.
These U-turns are only 70% of the solution to the problem of traffic jams on the Srinagar Highway but it is significantly cost-effective. This entire project took only 15 days and the problem of traffic during rush hours is resolved to an extent.
This is not only beneficial for the people traveling to the New Islamabad International Airport but all the CDA-sectors alongside the highway are going to benefit from it. Many newly developed housing societies near the airport are going to benefit as well.
A few of the newly developed housing societies benefitting from this 15-day project are Top City -1, MPCHS, Faisal Hills, Eighteen, and many more. The travel time to these housing societies will reduce by more than 50% making it more convenient to travel to these housing societies.
Srinagar Highway had three signals from Zero Point to G-13 and all these signals are now converted to Protective U-turns. The alternate solution to this problem was to build flyovers and underpasses which would have been costly.
The protective U-turns are G-9/G-10, Police Lines, and G-12 U-turns. CDA has ensured that clear signs are installed for road safety as well.
