Rawalpindi Ring Road to Become Operational in 1 Year – Commissioner RWP
Ring Road is one of the most anticipated and essential infrastructure projects of the city that benefits Islamabad and Rawalpindi in terms of accessibility, travel, and commutation. After getting delayed multiple times in the past, and revisions of route, etc. the project has formally kicked off in September 2023.
Recently, Commissioner Rawalpindi Liaquat Ali Chatta, visited the site of Rawalpindi Ring Road, for the assessment of development. He visited the Khasala Khurd area on Adyala Road, where an interchange will be developed. He was briefed by the development officials of FWO on the progress of the project.
Furthermore, he was also briefed about the length of Ring Road, which is around 38.3 Kilometers, and the total number of interchanges. There will be 5 total interchanges on the route of Ring Road. It is important to mention that work has commenced in multiple areas where land is owned by the district administration, the most noticeable area is close to Chakri Road, where work has already started. Furthermore, land acquisition is underway in different areas that come in the route of this highway.
Commissioner, Liaquat Ali expressed his satisfaction, seeing the development pace of RRR, and said that the project will be completed in 1 one year if the work continues at this pace. Furthermore, an industrial zone is also planned by RDA on the sides of Ring Road. This road will improve the accessibility to different areas of Rawalpindi, and decrease the traffic congestion on roads within the city

The provincial government is yet to release PKR 4 Billion, required for the development of this project. However, the developer has already started construction on a 10-kilometer patch owned by the district administration.
