RDA Demands Return of Funds for Rawalpindi Ring Road & Katchery Chowk Projects

The present government orders to put a hold on the Ring Road and other similar projects including the remodeling of Katchery Chowk. Some time back, the initial funds for both of these projects were released by Rawalpindi Development Authority.

But recently, RDA demanded the return of funds released for both of these projects. A total of 7 Billion was released for this purpose:

  • 3 Billion for the construction and remodeling of the Katchery Chowk Rawalpindi
  • 4 Billion for the initial development of Rawalpindi Ring Road.

These projects were put on hold until further notice. Moreover, the official of the Federal Government also hinted that the budget for these projects will be released in the next financial year. A senior official of the Punjab Housing revealed that the present government is unsure about starting these projects.

Moreover, the Federal Government wants to focus on the active projects and approve funds for them. However, the Ring Road is not completely halted but delayed till the next financial year, and most probably funds will be released again in the future.

Moreover, reports suggest that the allocated funds will take 3 months for a return. The government seeks to pay attention and allocate funds for already active developments. So the returned funds will be invested into these projects instead of the projects that are yet to be initiated.
