Here is another massive development project coming up this year in Rawalpindi along the upcoming Ring Road. RDA is reported to have approved the plan of Pakistan’s biggest cricket stadium over an area of 1050 acres between Adyala and Chakri Interchange. RDA is currently engaged in talks with Pakistan Cricket Board, and it is expected to start from 2nd quarter of this year.
According to the news report published in Daily Express News on 14th of January 2021, RDA is planning state-of-the-art cricket stadium along Rawalpindi Ring Road between its Adyala Interchange and Chakri Interchange. RDA will provide land to PCB for this mega development, while Cricket Board will do the rest of planning and construction work. The stadium is said to be the biggest in Pakistan with capacity of 150000 spectators.
This stadium will be completely lit with floodlights, and it will have latest systems installed to conduct matches during rains. Five star hotels will be built in the commercial area around this place for guests and cricketers to stay in a fool proof secured environment.
Chairman Rawalpindi Development Authority, Mr. Tariq Murtaza and General Manager of PCB, Col (R) Ashfaq have agreed on the terms of this project. Chair RDA will now hold meeting with Chairman PCB Mr. Ehsan Mani to discuss further on the project.
