NHA Approves Capital Smart City Interchange on Motorway M-2
Finally, the long awaited good news regarding the most fabled “Dedicated Interchange” of Capital Smart City is out and negative rumors regarding its impracticability have died down. National Highway Authority (NHA) has granted final approval of construction of Capital Smart City Interchange on Motorway M-2 in a meeting held on February 04, 2022. This is indeed a great news for all the members of Capital Smart City who stood firmly with HRL and trusted their commitments.
This news came through a letter dated 7th of March, 2022 from NHA to FDHL regarding formal approval of the Interchange. This approval was granted to the society in the 381st meeting of the NHA Executive Board held on February 4th, 2022.
According to the letter, Capital Smart City has been granted formal approval to start construction of its dedicated interchange at KM 332-333 on Motorway M-2 Islamabad. FDHL will construct the interchange as per the approved design under regulation for access form NHA controlled network.

Apart from all development features of Capital Smart City, the only issue which the society has been facing is the “Direct Access” from Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Despite being sprawled along Motorway M-2, one has to travel about extra 25 KM to reach the society.
With this dedicated interchange, the society will get a new entrance on Motorway M-2, and visitors and potential residents will have seamless access to the society while saving time and fuel. Construction Work
Now that the interchange is formally approved by NHA, the construction work is likely to start soon. According to the latest information, the work will start within the next 2 to 3 months. Generally, Capital Smart City, as a whole, will benefit from it but some blocks of the society will get an edge over others, such as Overseas Central Block.
For instance, the blocks including Executive District, Gate Precinct, Overseas Central, and Overseas East will benefit the most. However, other areas of Capital Smart City will also get noticeable benefits from the construction of this interchange.
