CDA, Margalla Hills National Park to Swap 327 Acres

Since the Capital Development Authority (CDA) is developing sectors C-15, and C-16, they have agreed on the exchange of land with the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB). CDA has also planned the execution of Margalla Hill Road construction.

The federal government of Pakistan declared the land for Margalla Hills National Park (MHNP) in 1980 which also included some land from these sectors and the road. But this allocation of land was not following the layout plan of the 1960s.

Since the CDA did not want to realign the road and the development of sectors, therefore, the CDA Chairman called for a meeting. In this meeting, it was decided that 327 acres of land will be given to MHNP instead of the land being acquired for the development projects.

Some part of the land in the South of National Park and reserve forest compartments 31 and 33 will be handed over to the CDA for the sectors and the road. Whereas CDA would allot the land of Margazhar Zoo and the north of D-12 in Pind Sangrial and Pind Siri Saral to the MHNP.

The land exchange case will now be forwarded to the Federal Government for approval. The transfer will be completed once the approval is through.

The work on the expansion of the Islamabad Expressway from PWD to Rawat is also being handed over to another Government contractor. This contract has been awarded according to Section 42(f) of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA).
