Buildings with 4 and 4+ Floors to Install Emergency Exit Stairs

Buildings with 4 and 4+ Floors to Install Emergency Exit Stairs

Old 4+ story buildings in Islamabad have been asked to install emergency stairs within the next six months. This decision has been made by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to prevent loss of life during fire incidents or other emergencies. This move has been welcomed by many, as it is an important step towards improving safety in the city. However, it has also raised concerns among some building owners and residents, who may face financial or logistical difficulties in complying with the new regulations.

As per the CDA officials, strict legal actions will be taken against the owners, who fail to comply with this order of the Capital Development Authority. CDA chairman, shed light on the importance and need of emergency floors for buildings with 4 stories or higher during a meeting with the owners of buildings and housing societies.

This new law of CDA is not just applicable to the old buildings of the federal capital, but also all the new buildings will follow it. CDA chairman also urged the developers of ongoing or soon-to-start high-rise buildings to equip the building with emergency exits and stairs to save lives in the time of disaster. Adherence to this new rule of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) is a must for all high-rise development and the civic agency will make sure of its application.

Safety is the primary goal of this decision. Emergencies can happen at any time, and it is important to be prepared. This is especially true in the case of high-rise buildings, where it can be difficult to evacuate people quickly and safely in the event of a fire or other emergency. By requiring the installation of emergency stairs, the CDA is taking a proactive step towards improving safety in these buildings and reducing the risk of loss of life.

It is also worth noting that the CDA has provided a six-month deadline for compliance with the new regulations. This gives building owners and residents ample time to plan and prepare for the installation of emergency stairs. During this time, they can work with architects, engineers, and contractors to develop plans for the stairs and identify the best locations for them within the building.

It is also important to recognize that this decision by the CDA is part of a larger effort to improve safety in the city. By requiring emergency stairs in high-rise buildings, the CDA is taking a proactive step towards improving safety and reducing the risk of loss of life.
