Registrar Cooperative Housing Societies Cancels the registration of 14 Cooperative Housing Societies

According to a news source, the registration of 14 Cooperative housing schemes has been canceled by the authorities upon instructions from the Registrar of Cooperative Housing Societies. The orders for cancellation were sent by the Deputy Commissioner, who is also Registrar Cooperative Housing Societies Islamabad and named Irfan Nawaz Memon. Furthermore, the officials of the ICT Registrar’s office released the names of 14 housing societies whose registration has been canceled, these cooperative housing societies fall in the premises of Punjab, therefore they were registered with ICT Registrar Office.

Following is the list of societies whose registration was canceled by ICT Registrar Office:

  • WAPDA Cooperative Housing Society
  • Veterans Cooperative Housing Society
  • OGDC Cooperative Housing Society
  • Foreign Office Employees Society
  • Work No Ward Cooperative Society
  • Ministry of Commerce Society
  • Pakistan Employees Cooperative Housing
  • PAEC Employees Society
  • PWD Employees Housing Project
  • National Police Foundation Society
  • OGCF Employees Cooperative
  • Federal Sharia Court Society
  • Pakistan Professional Cooperative Society
  • Engineers Cooperative Housing Society

In case you are confused; there are two types of housing societies, housing schemes, and cooperative housing schemes. Simple housing schemes consist of private and Authority schemes whereas cooperative housing schemes are developed by a different government organizations to award their employees.

The housing schemes are dealt with by administrative authorities like CDA, RDA, and LDA whereas the cooperative housing schemes are dealt with by the ICT Registrar Office. The notices of cancellation will be issued to these housing societies soon by Deputy Commissioner Islamabad.

According to the officials of the ICT Registrar Office, the societies failed to comply with the rules and regulations of the Capital Development Authority, they were asked to register in the districts where they were located, and hence the authorities took a step and canceled their registration. However, there are chances of restoration of registration if the schemes register themselves in the respective districts.
