RDA to Float International Tenders for Rawalpindi Ring Road
After a deafening silence of about a year or so, Rawalpindi Ring Road has once again come up on the forefront after the budget of 31 billion rupees has been approved by ECNEC for construction of this major by-pass in December 2021. This project has literally succumbed to litany of delays over the past few years but things seems to be falling into place for the most-awaited inauguration of Rawalpindi Ring Road.
According the the latest news reports, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) is all set to float international tenders for construction of Rawalpindi Ring Road as well as Layyi Expressway. The inauguration ceremony was planned on 23rd of March, 2022, however it has now been scheduled on 30th of March, 2022 due to Pakistan Day Parade.

The Government of Punjab has already appointed its keyperson to take up charge of these mega projects, streamline processes and remove any hurdles in the course of development.
Prime Minister Imran Khan will lay the foundation of these two mega projects, i.e. Rawalpindi Ring Road and Lai Expressway on March 30, 2022. The residents of Rawalpindi have warmly welcomed this positive development on these long-delayed projects as the city desperately needs these projects to overcome its traffic issues.
