PM Imran Khan Inaugurates Hakla D.I Khan Motorway CPEC

The long-awaited Hakla- Dera Ismail Khan Motorway was inaugurated by Prime Minister Imran Khan himself on 5 January 2021 at a ceremony held in Islamabad for this specific reason. This Motorway features 4 lanes and connects the M-1 Motorway to D.I Khan and Hakla Interchange.

Specifications

The National Highways Authority of Islamabad is developing this road. It is a 292.5 Km long road with a total of:

  • 398 culverts
  • 119 underpasses
  • 36 bridges
  • 11 interchanges
  • 33 flyovers

This road is a key addition to the western route of CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor). “This Motorway is aimed to benefit the less developed areas of the country” according to Prime Minister Imran Khan. Moreover, he said that “this road will connect to the areas which are less developed”.

Hakla D.I Khan Motorway will ensure the facilitation of people from far-off areas and provide access to them towards the developed cities of the country. A tweet from the official Twitter account of the Prime Minister announced this news.

There are many tourist sites along this motorway and it will also improve tourism in the country. Some of the extensive tourist sites include the proposed Kalabagh Dam site that will be easily accessible through the Tarap Interchange.

Moreover, Maple Leaf Cement Factory and Sikandarabad Industrial zone will also be accessible along with Chashma Bridge, Hilly Valley, and Date farms of Dera Ismail Khan.

Furthermore, this motorway with improving the economic condition of far-off areas like Pindi Gheb, Kala Bagh, Daud Khel, Makhad, and many others. This project will provide these areas with benefits such as a reduction in travel time, fuel consumption, trade, and much more.
