The government of Sindh has set new conditions for NOC approval of housing societies in the province. This decision was taken by the government after careful consideration and several board meetings.  However, the decision was finalized and new conditions were imposed in a meeting led by the Environmental Minister Mr. Ismail Rahu.

Furthermore, the meeting was also attended by the Director-General of Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA), Mr. Naeem Ahmed Mughal, and other relevant officials of government departments.

Following is the new condition imposed on the housing societies:

“NOC and approval will be provided to the housing society if and only if they have allocated the land for green belts in their master plan. It has been made mandatory to specify land for green belts before starting any sort of construction at the project sites”.

The government has set the new conditions for NOC approval to reduce the effect of climate change and increased temperature during the summer seasons. Recently, the province underwent a severe heatwave as a result of climate change and the experts suggested increasing greenery.

That’s not all, the Director-General of SEPA also indicated the implementation of strict tree plantation policies for housing projects, keeping in view the constant rise of temperature and extreme weather. It is indeed a great initiative if the government succeeds to implement it.
