Government Considers Regularizing Unapproved Housing Societies

In a recent meeting, government ponders over giving legal status to illegal housing societies. All those housing societies that are abiding by the legal boundaries of the authorities will be subjected to regularization.

It was decided in the cabinet meeting presided over by the Prime Minister himself has given a go-ahead on the matter and wants a complete action plan before the execution of this task.

Illegal housing societies will only clear the process of regularization if they succeed in the rigorous procedure of legal authorities. After they have cleared the procedure, they will be subjected to regularization.

Federal Minister, Asad Umar, also voiced his concerns over the matter of a ban on the issuance of new utility connections. This matter is solely affecting the region of Federal Capital.

Prime Minister has taken the notice of the matter raised by Mr. Asad and ordered to lift the ban with immediate effect. Federal Capital, Islamabad will now be issued new gas and electricity meters with little hassle.

There are some reports that state that over 65% of the housing societies in Pakistan are not registered with any regulatory authority. The reason behind regularizing these housing societies is to make them recognized by the legal authorities so that they are documented.

Over 6,000 housing societies all across Pakistan are not registered or are showing bogus information to their customers. Customers are misled into believing that their properties are registered with authorities and are exploited by the hands of the owners.

Many people have reportedly been scammed by these housing societies in the past and their applications do not stand for any legal action. It is better to regularize them to safeguard the rights of the people investing their hard-earned money.
