CDA Awards Contract of PWD to Grand Trunk Road to FWO
In the latest news, Capital Development Authority (CDA) awarded the contract of PWD to Grand Trunk Road to FWO. This contract includes the expansion of the PWD Expressway to Grand Trunk Road. This expansion project will complete in the time frame of 18 months and the total cost will be PKR 10.9 billion.
In the past, CDA invited bids for the expansion of the PWD Expressway to Grand Trunk Road, 2 government construction firms including FWO and NLC submitted proposals but FWO’s bid was finalized by CDA, the main reason being the lowest price of 10.9 Billion whereas NLC’s bid was around 11.7 Billion.
Capital Development Authority initiated the expression of interest (EOI) for the addition of two more lanes to the already existing two-lane expressway under the regulation of PPRA (Public Procurement Regulatory Authority). Section 42(F) of PPRA allows government organizations to sign different contracts with other government and semi-government bodies.
Now, CDA has directed FWO to prepare the PC-1 plan, the development authority advised FWO to create a plan for a 7 Km long four-lane expressway to connect PWD to G.T. Road. This expanded road will be used by traffic from Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and other areas. Frontier Works Organization (FWO) is already working on different infrastructural projects in Islamabad. CDA entrusts many development projects to FWO under the rules and regulations of PPRA.
