CDA to Shift Schools Outside of the Residential Areas

Capital Development Authority (CDA) is proposing a new policy to relocate private schools outside of residential areas in Islamabad. This decision is being taken to ensure the safety and well-being of students and residents in these areas.

According to the CDA, there are currently several private schools located in residential areas in Islamabad. This has raised concerns about the safety of students and residents as these areas are not designed to handle the traffic and parking demands that come with schools.

To address this issue, the CDA has proposed relocating these schools to areas that are better equipped to handle the demands of a school. The government has now approved this proposal, and private schools in residential areas will need to relocate.

For this purpose, Capital Development Authority (CDA) has devised a proper strategy. According to this strategy, CDA will issue land for the educational institutes on lease. Furthermore, it is also important to mention that the civic agency is not permitted to offer rental land as per the current regulations. Furthermore, a special meeting will be held where the CDA board will be briefed about this initiative.

Moreover, according to the spokesperson of CDA, a similar initiative was also taken in the past, but the actions taken by private schools were not satisfactory, as school management did not give any relief to the parents. Currently, almost 400 schools are operating in residential areas throughout Islamabad. As of now, over 100 plots are specified by CDA in different sectors of the capital city.

The plan is to assign plots to the school owners, for some time of 20 to 35 years. During this time, CDA will collect rent from the owners every month. The school owners will provide relief to the parents, they will only take a fee that has been agreed upon between the CDA board and school management.

Three categories of schools have been identified by the civic body:

  • Some schools are charging 5,000 fees.
  • Some schools are charging fees anywhere from 5000 to 10,000.
  • The third category of schools is charging more than 10,000

These categories will help CDA ensure a reasonable fee for students, and provide relief to the parents.

The CDA has assured residents that they will work closely with schools to ensure a smooth transition. They will also monitor the progress of the relocation to ensure that it is carried out in a timely and efficient manner.

This decision has been welcomed by parents and residents in affected areas. They believe that relocating schools outside of residential areas will create a safer environment for students and reduce the traffic and parking issues that have been causing problems in their communities.

The decision to relocate private schools outside of residential areas in Islamabad is a positive step towards ensuring the safety and well-being of students and residents. The CDA’s proactive approach to addressing this issue is commendable, and we hope that the relocation process will be carried out smoothly and efficiently.
