CDA to Open IJP Road for Traffic in March 2023
News: The Chairman of Capital Development Authority (CDA), Noor-ul-Amin Mengal announced that the development work of the most awaited IJP Road has entered the final stages and it will be completed and opened for traffic in March 2023. This news was reported by an authentic source on 27th February 2023.
As you already know, the renovation of IJP Road started quite a while back and faced delays due to several reasons. But now, CDA has announced that the development work has entered the final stages. CDA Chairman announced the opening of IJP in March 2023 via his official Twitter account. Furthermore, it will be inaugurated on 23 March. IJP Road will improve the flow of traffic between Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The tender for the renovation and widening of IJP Road was awarded to National Logistics Cell (NLC), back in October 2021, as it was the lowest bidder for this project. The CDA chairman also shared the development updates of this project back in January 2023. According to him, the work on IJP Road is almost completed. Furthermore, he stated that the only part of this project that is left is the Agha Shahi (9th) Avenue Flyover, which will be completed shortly.
The following updates were shared by the former Chairman of the Capital Development Authority:
- The rigid pavement of IJP Road is 90% completed
- The structure of Mandi Mor Bridge is completed, NLC is now working on expansion joints and NJB
- The structure work of Nullah Leh Bridge is also completed, but the expansion joints are yet to be developed.
- Concrete work, brick, and asphalt pavement work are 70% completed
Capital Development Authority (CDA) is fully committed to opening the IJP Road for traffic in the next month. Furthermore, it is also important to note that various infrastructure projects are underway in Islamabad under the supervision of CDA.
