CDA to Expand Park Road from Rawal Chowk to Taramri Chowk
Capital Development Authority (CDA) announced the expansion of Park Road from Rawal Chowk to Taramri Chowk Islamabad. According to a news source, Park Road will be expanded and new lanes will be added to better the flow of traffic.
Park Road is considered an important road in the capital city, Islamabad. Recently, it is witnessing a large number of vehicles daily due to the expansion of federal capital and the development of different housing projects around the area. CDA has decided to expand the park road by widening it and adding new lanes.
Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, Capt. (Retd) Muhammad Usman Younis told the press that CDA plans to expand Park Road from Rawal Chowk to Taramri Chowk. Additional lanes will be added to this road, and the total length will be around 7.5 kilometers.
Usman Younis also said that the project will be initiated in the third week of the ongoing month i.e. October 2022. The budget for the expansion of Park Road is around PKR 1.95 billion; CDA has proposed a timeline of almost 4 months for the completion of this project.
Primarily, the government decided to revamp this route in August 2022, but the project face continuous delays due to ongoing rains. A flyover is already developed there, which neglects the need for traffic lights, moreover, it helps in maintaining a smooth flow of traffic. Although, this flyover was inaugurated by the Prime Minister, the development of Rawal Chowk is still underway.
According to government officials, Rawal Dam Interchange will be completed by the mid of next year and most probably it will be opened to traffic from September of next year. The ongoing development at Rawal Chowk troubles the people who use Park Road Daily despite the flyover being opened for traffic.
