CDA Plans to Install Solar Panels to Generate Electricity

Capital Development Authority (CDA) is addressing the energy requirements in the capital, and new solar panels will be installed by the CDA. These solar panels will generate 4.5 Megawatts of electricity and these solar panels will be installed in different parts of the city.

Solar Panels will be installed on top of the waterworks and tube wells that will ensure the continuous running of electricity for the tube wells. The electricity generated from these solar panels will ultimately be added to the national grid.

The first phase PC-I is already prepared and dispatched to get approval from the concerned authorities. The first phase of the installation of these solar panels will cost around PKR 80 million.

Water Supply Directorate Deputy Director-General, Sardar Khan shared that the project will solve the electricity problem for the next 25 years. DG Sardar Khan also shared the details of the location where these solar panels are going to be installed.

A 2-MW solar system is advised to be installed in Sector I-9 at the sewage treatment plant. Whereas the two 1-MW solar systems are going to be installed at Pona Faqiran and near the sports complex.

The 0.5-MW solar system will be part of the Rose and Jasmine Garden. Electricity is becoming a problem in Islamabad, and this is the reason that the CDA addressed this issue.

For all the water projects in the city, CDA requires 10 MW of electricity. Therefore, the CDA will launch new projects in the future by installing more solar panels around the city.
