Rawal Dam Interchange is one of the most important development projects in Islamabad as its completion will help maintain the flow of traffic within the city and provide an alternate route to the traffic coming from different cities to Islamabad. In the past month, the work on Rawal Dam Interchange faced delays due to the rainy season, which left a question on FWO’s claims to deliver the project before deadline.
Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) addressed the officials of Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and told them to expedite the work on this project, according to news. Moreover, he said that this project is of the utmost importance in the locality and should be completed in a given time frame which is September 2022.
Chairman CDA, Amir Ali Ahmed visited the Rawal Dam Interchange site and was informed about the current development status of the project. The development team briefed the chairman about ongoing development at different stages of this project and clarified the cause of delays i.e. monsoon rains.
According to the latest development updates, work on the interchange ramps is being carried out rapidly; the filling work of one ramp is completed whereas sub-grade work is being done. Officials of FWO also said that the Rawal Dam interchange will be operational till September 2022 and it will be opened to the public in October after inspection.
This project is a collection of a flyover, different slip roads, an underpass, and a secondary underpass linking it to Margalla Town. It is being built near Park Road, Club, and Murree Road, after completion, it will provide ease to traffic congestion coming from Murree Road and other areas of Islamabad.
