Cabinet Approves Leasing For Use of State Land for Corporate Farming

The Punjab Cabinet has given its approval for leasing land for corporate farming under the CPEC project. This Cabinet meeting was held under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab. Mr. Usman Buzdar.

Mr. Usman has envisioned the modernization of farming and this is why this land is approved for a lease. The approval was given to 500 to 5,000 Acres of Land and all this leased land will be solely for corporate farming.

The purpose of this Corporate Farming lease was to create new job opportunities for the people and at the same time, modernize the farming methods in Pakistan. The modernization of agricultural practices will bring new and innovative solutions to food scarcity.

This issue was pertaining to the last government, and the approval of land was long due. Seven agro-economic zones were planned in the PML-N’s Government along the CPEC Route to bring more value to the agriculture of the country.

The meeting also recognized the unclassified forests and gave them the status of protected forests. Namal Lake was also declared a wetland in this meeting and rescheduling was also done for transferring rare breeds of the birds.

The meeting gave a green signal for the auction of pesticides for anti-locust operations in the province. This will save the farms of Punjab from future locusts’ attacks and other harmful pests.

The work is also being done to gain investments from China for organic farming by offering partnerships. Development of Seed and Seed technology, production of pesticides and fertilizers, and different processing units were also on the agenda.
