Bahria Town had a hearing today, March 06, 2019 in Supreme Court of Pakistan regarding its land issues in Karachi, Rawalpindi and Murree. Bahria Town has reportedly agreed to offer 479 billion rupees against the subject lands in Karachi, Murree and Rawalpindi. However, the court doesn’t seem to agree with the offered amount as well as proposed payment duration, and asked the company to come up with a better proposal.
According to the report, Bahria Town has agreed to pay 435 billion rupees for its disputed land in Bahria Town Karachi. The company offered to pay this amount over the next 9 years, however the Supreme Court didn’t agree to the given offer and passed instructions to reconsider the amount and terms.
It is important to mention here that Bahria Town is going to pay for 17000 acres only which includes MDA’s land only. Actual planned land was about 25000 acres as per the NAB report, however Bahria Town disowned the additional land and that was returned to the government.
Bahria Town has, in fact, already sold plots in that disowned land, which includes Bahria Paradise, Bahria Sports City, Valley Block and newly balloted precincts (29,32,33a,b,c,d). It is quite evident that Bahria Town no longer owns that land, and it has assured the court to compensate the affected allottees through replacement of their plots.
Next hearing of Bahria Town’s Case is scheduled on March 14, 2019, and we hope that Bahria Town will come up with a better proposal in order to resolve this matter once and for all.
