The reconstruction of Adyala Road, spanning nearly 11 km from Khwaja Corporation Chowk to Gorakh Pur, is officially underway. The project, which is being carried out by the Punjab Highway Department, Rawalpindi office, aims to significantly ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the region.
As part of the ongoing work, sections of the road that have been uprooted are now being rebuilt, with sub-base and base layers already laid in many areas. The total cost of this project is 1.626 billion PKR, and the anticipated completion deadline is set for June 30, 2025.
Once finished, the newly reconstructed road will have a carpeted width of 24 feet, which will ensure smoother and more efficient traffic flow. The upgraded Adyala Road will directly benefit residents of rapidly growing housing societies, including DHA Phase 4 River View North & South, Gulshanabad, and the Punjab Government Housing Scheme. Additionally, it will provide improved access to Rudn Enclave and the Rawalpindi Ring Road, streamlining travel for thousands of commuters.
The project is expected to reduce travel time and ease the daily commute for residents and businesses in the area, promoting economic growth and regional development. With the growing population and increasing vehicle traffic, the new Adyala Road will accommodate these demands, making it a vital part of Rawalpindi’s infrastructure.
Local authorities have emphasized the importance of this reconstruction in addressing current traffic issues and ensuring better connectivity to surrounding areas. As work progresses, the upgraded road is set to become a crucial link between downtown Rawalpindi and the new housing societies, enhancing the overall transportation network.
Once completed by June 2025, the Adyala Road project will not only reduce congestion but will also promote further development by improving access to commercial and residential areas, supporting both local businesses and residents.
