Lahore, November 24, 2025 – A historic milestone was achieved today in Punjab’s real estate sector. The Government of Punjab has successfully conducted the Digital Balloting for the “Apni Zameen Apna Ghar” (AZAG) program. The ceremony was held in Lahore, with Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif attending as the Chief Guest alongside Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
This balloting has finalized the names of approximately 2,000 lucky families who will now receive 3-Marla developed residential plots completely free of cost.
Project Background: A Vision for Shelter
The “Apni Zameen Apna Ghar” initiative was officially launched by CM Maryam Nawaz in May 2025. It was designed with a clear vision: to provide a permanent roof to the homeless and poorest segments of society who cannot afford to buy land in today’s market.
Unlike other housing schemes that offer loans or apartments, this unique project provides ownership of land. The government identified state land in various districts, developed it with basic infrastructure (roads, electricity, sewerage), and is now transferring it to deserving citizens.
Districts Included in Phase 1
The first phase of the scheme focused on specific districts where state land was available and ready for development. Applications were received from residents of the following 19 districts:
- Central Punjab: Lahore, Faisalabad, Kasur, Okara, Sahiwal, Chiniot, Sargodha.
- North Punjab: Attock, Jhelum, Khushab, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin.
- South Punjab: Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Lodhran, Vehari, Layyah, Rajanpur, Jhang.
- Total Schemes: 23 Housing Schemes were designated across these districts for the allotment.
Ballot Statistics: Huge Public Response
The scheme received an overwhelming response from the public, highlighting the high demand for affordable housing in the province.
- Total Applications Received: Over 3.5 Lakh (350,000+) applications were submitted via the online portal.
- Total Plots Allotted: In this first ballot, approx. 2,000 applicants have been selected.
- Asset Value: Each winner is getting a 3-Marla Developed Plot, which is ready for construction.
