SBCA Imposes Complete Ban on Construction of High Rise Buildings in Karachi

High Rise Buildings in Karachi

Sindh Building Control Authority has imposed ban on construction of high rise buildings in Karachi. The director general of Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), Agha Maqsood Abbas, following the supreme court's order, has issued notification to impose complete ban on construction of high rise buildings whether commercial or residential within the aerial boundary of the city.

Karachi is the only city in Pakistan which is famous for its high rise buildings, whether residential or commercial. Living in apartments is quite normal in Karachi, and most of the new projects in Karachi offer apartments rather than villas/town houses. This trend of high rise buildings is now spreading across punjab and the capital city Islamabad.

Now builders and developers will not be able to launch mega projects of high rise buildings in Karachi, as SBCA will only allow ground plus two storey projects. The ongoing projects may not be affected from this notification, however SBCA will not approve any high rise projects after this notification.
