CM Punjab Approves 21 Billion Rupees Budget for Rawalpindi Ring Road

Rawalpindi Ring Road project is again in the news after some concrete steps are being taken by the Government of Punjab to trigger off this indispensable bypass project to alleviate the traffic issues in Rawalpindi. The ring road plan is ready, and PC-2 has been submitted to the CM Punjab for final approval. The CM has reportedly approved 47 billion rupees for the construction of Ring Road already.

The Government has recently released 4 billion rupees to purchase the required land for Ring Road. According to RDA Sources, the project requires a total of 11000 kanals of land as per the survey, and the land purchase will be completed by the end of this fiscal year. The project will formally start from the next fiscal year, and availability of funds has been ensured by the Government.

A recent news report has disclosed important details of Rawalpindi Ring Road. We are sharing the important features of the project from that news report for our reader.

Following are the salient features of Rawalpindi Ring Road:

  • Ring Road will be 48.5 KM long
  • 2 Link Roads of 6 KM & 8 KM will connect ring road to GT road
  • Ring Road will have commercial areas on each side
  • Ring Road will be 300 ft wide
  • Zero point of ring road will be at Channi Sher Alam Bridge (between Rawat & Mandra)
  • Ring Road will end at Thalian Interchange
  • It will take 2 years to complete this project
  • It will start in fiscal year 2018-19 & complete in 2020-21

This is a very good news for real estate sector of Rawalpindi, especially the housing projects which benefit from the access of this ring road. If you observe the route of this bypass, you may notice that DHA phase 3, Bahria Town Phase 8 Extension, DHA Phase 4, CBR Phase 2, Capital Smart City, I-16, and various other housing schemes will be linked to motorway and Islamabad through this bypass.
